Monthly Goals September 2019, personal finance, emergency fund, extra income, debt payoff

Hey, how’s it going everyone?  It’s that time again.  I am going to lay out all my monthly goals for September 2019!

August was another crazy month, and yet again, I did not accomplish all my goals.

I need to be honest, I got bored one day, about a month and a half ago, I had nothing on my to-do list that day, and I picked up my XBOX controller!

I have been horrible ever since and been half addicted, or should I say, readdicted to playing video games!  It really is unfortunate as I did well there for over five months and didn’t touch any video games.  Well, I did play some games on my cell phone, but, is Candy Crush considered a video game???

Anyways, I am going to lay this out a bit differently this month.  I am going to list my failures from last month first!  After that, I will list out my monthly goals for September!

Unsuccessful August Goals!

Now, that’s not to say I completely neglected these goals.  I worked on some of them but didn’t get to the finish line.

Let’s break it down a bit further on what I did accomplish.  I think it is essential to focus on the positive side when you don’t quite meet your expectations!

Let’s start with my fitness routine.

I started working towards this again, but I am not doing as much as I was.  Before I lost my mojo, I was running four days per week and doing some light calisthenics pretty much every day!  Since restarting, I have only run twice and have done very little calisthenics.

I need to get my rear in gear though.  My semi-annual physical fitness test is coming up in November!  I can pass it, and pretty much ALWAYS stay in good enough shape to pass the test; however, I don’t usually go for the minimum passing score.  I want to do better!

Next was my media kit!

So, I did start on this.  I have made several different ones.  However, I haven’t been able to get it just right!  I want it to be perfect!

Speaking of, I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but my traffic is still so low!  Pinterest doesn’t seem to give me very much traffic, and all my stats on that are continuously falling!  I haven’t done well in SEO, so my organic traffic is next to non-existent!

I digress, but the point is, I find myself wondering if a media kit is even necessary at this time?  I don’t think any company will work with me on sponsored posts or anything monetary related with my current blog stats.

However, I do want to get it done, where maybe just some minor tweaks here and there, and updating my stats as they grow is all I have to do occasionally. So this one will stay on my list and be part of my monthly goals for September.

Don’t be mistaken, I know I discussed my stats and all that because those things are on my mind.  Above all, I ENJOY doing this blog, so it isn’t the end of the world for me.  However, I would like to see my stats improve as it makes me feel good that I am reaching some people.

That pesky upstairs bathroom!

I did some more work in this room, but it still needs more.  Next, I need to repair a spot in the ceiling, I think.

Just know, this spot I need to repair, is a spot I ALREADY fixed and, well, I’m not that good with drywall, so it needs another repair!  My bad!

I will keep working towards getting this room done.  Eventually, it will be ready for paint, and MY part will be complete.  The wife is going to do the painting!  Not sure she knows this yet, but when she reads this article, she will know!

I know what your thinking.  Yes, my wife reads my articles.  I don’t know that she likes them or enjoys reading them, but she reads them if only because she has to!  I know what else your thinking.  I do KNOW she reads them, well, maybe she skims I suppose, but she makes comments to me about specific things I write!

My subscriber list!

Well, this isn’t a full failure of a goal!  I did grow my email subscriber list last month, as my goal stated.  However, I only gained two followers!

So, I have some awesome ideas for some opt-ins that I need to create!  I also want to create a beautiful, friendly landing page that new subscribers can go to and download my opt-ins.  I have created a few of them but want to make a few more.

The landing page will be the hardest part.  I’m still not super talented on this whole website thing and creating pages and all that.  It takes me a very substantial amount of time to get it the way I “think” it looks good.

Speaking of, if you read this far, please leave me a comment with feedback about my website design and appearance.  Do you like it, hate it, things I should change, etc.

Guest post!

So I still haven’t achieved this.  This goal has been on each of my monthly goals if I’m not mistaken!

I am pretty sure I am going to achieve this goal in September!

I am actually in the process of writing an article that I intend to be a guest post.  This article so far is fantastic, or at least I think it is, and it is talking about a HUGE goal that we achieved!

I am not going to spoil it in here, be on the lookout for it!  Again, hopefully, this article will be posted on a different website, but I will be posting links on social media, and I will certainly have a link to it on here!

I am pretty stoked about this!

So one thing I did do was work on my truck some more.  Now, as far as expense, it was only 40 some dollars.

What did I do, you ask?  I fixed my air conditioning!  My friend was the genius behind it.  I went over to his place, we did a couple of tests, and he told me what to buy.

Went and purchased the two parts, back to his house and we replaced them.  It still doesn’t work as good as the air conditioning in the wife’s car.  I think that is just 2016 car versus 2004 pickup.

So, one thing I need to say is I can’t thank my friend enough!!  Without his help, I would still be sweating!

I also achieved my extra income goal from August goals.  This goal, I believe, is the ONLY goal from August that I met, 100 percent!  I broke 200 dollars on Survey Junkie!  Just barely, just under 201 dollars!  However, my goal was to break 200 dollars, and I did!  I spent a substantial amount of time doing surveys, but it was worth it!

So, now that my past fails are out of the way, without further ado, here are my…

Monthly Goals for September 2019

Not sure I need to say this, but all the goals I haven’t finished yet are back on the list!

1.  GUEST POST!  I want to finish the article I am working on, and get a popular personal finance site to guest post it!  Finishing it is the easy part.  I will have it done by the end of the weekend!  Getting it posted is the hard part!

Wish me luck with this goal and achieving it this time for my monthly goals for September.

2.  SUBSCRIBER LIST!  So, I realized I really can’t control how many of you, if any, sign up for my newsletter, other than offering you a good enough reason to sign up!  So this month, I am going to finish all my ideas for opt-ins, and I am going to build a landing page for them!

3.  FINISH MY MEDIA KIT!  Not much to say about this one.  I am definitely going to FINISH this media kit this month!!

4.  FITNESS!  As I said, I have pretty much no choice at this point!  My semi-annual fitness test is coming, no matter what!

5.  THE UPSTAIRS BATHROOM!  I am not going to put a definitive goal on this one this month!  I am just going to promise myself to put some work into it!  There are also plenty of other things I need to do around the house.  I should make this a general home maintenance goal!

I just listed a bunch of old goals, but what about some NEW goals!!

6.  ANOTHER TRUCK REPAIR!  The next thing on my to-do list is inexpensive!  To get to my goal, I need to explain a little bit about my truck.

My truck is a 2004 model, with ONLY 109 thousand miles on it.  It is in excellent condition!  The interior is, I would say, a 9 out of 10!  The body, other than the original paint, is also a 9 out of 10, if not a 10!!

What needs work, you ask?  The underside if extremely rusty!  So, I want to spend time underneath with a wire brush, and some paint.  Or I was even looking into POR 15 to use.  Anyways, I want to clean up the rust, and slow it down or stop it from going further!

It is regrettable, with the excellent condition of the truck, that the undercarriage has to be so terrible!

I need some advice!

Are you still reading?  Leave a comment below with your advice!  I have been putting a ton of thought into spending a little bit of money to try and make this vehicle last for several more years.  On the other hand, do I stop here, go for another year driving it, and then purchase a newer truck?

I am torn on this because I love not having a payment on my vehicle, which fits my goals of paying off my debt entirely!   However, I am concerned about how much money this vehicle might cost me in the long run, which I feel, will be minimal, but I could be wrong!

Anyways, back to my monthly goals for September. I could go on and on talking about my truck!

7.  BREAK MY RECORD AGAIN!  OK, so as I said, I broke 200 dollars on Survey Junkie in August.  Now, I want to break that record again this month because that little bit of extra money has gone a long way on helping me on this journey!!

See Cheap Tasty Meal Plans!

To Sum Up…

I think that is enough for this month.  I need to stop trying to bite off more than I can chew because then I don’t complete all my goals!

If this is the first time you have read my monthly goals articles, here they are all.  Feel free to read them all and see how I have done so far.

I just realized that I keep going back and forth on something!  I call these articles one second and the next second I call them posts!  I digress again…

YOUR TURN – Leave a comment and tell us what your monthly goals for September are!  If you read this far, don’t forget to give me some advice on the website, and my truck!

If you enjoyed this article or post or article or whatever, please feel free to share it with your family and friends and on social media!!!

P.S.  I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you of how important an emergency fund is!  Please read Emergency Fund: First Step to Debt Free!

  1. Love that you’re putting your goals out into the universe like this! Seems like a great way to hold yourself accountable. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Media kit and email freebies were on my to do list for the longest time too, I don’t know why I kept putting it off. Finally sorted it though, just want to add a few more items to my freebies page.
With regards to your truck, I’m in the same position with my car. I have spent a lot of money on repairs BUT it gets me from A to B and I don’t have to make a monthly payment on it, so I’m just gonna keep driving it until it dies completely!

    1. Hi Katie. My plan has always been to drive my truck “until the wheels fall off”. We shall see how that works out! Now, about that darn media kit…
